Charge Entry Specialist – RCM
Job Summary
The Charge Entry Specialist is responsible for entering accurate billing information into the practice management system to ensure timely and correct claims submission. This role is a critical part of the revenue cycle, contributing to the overall financial health of healthcare practices by reducing errors and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and accurately enter charges from provider documentation into the billing system.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and coding details.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in documentation and coding.
- Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure claims are compliant with payer guidelines.
- Monitor charge entry productivity and ensure all charges are entered within established timelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 1+ year of experience in medical billing or charge entry.
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
- Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and Microsoft Office.
