Outpatient E&M Coders
Job Summary
Outpatient E&M Coders are responsible for accurately assigning evaluation and management (E&M) codes for outpatient services. This role requires in-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursements. As an integral part of the revenue cycle team, you’ll contribute to accurate claims submission and minimize the risk of denials.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure coding compliance with CMS, payer policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies.
- Monitor and address coding-related claim denials, rejections, and audits.
- Stay up-to-date with coding changes, regulatory updates, and best practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent).
- 2+ years of experience in outpatient coding, with expertise in E&M coding.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in EHR and coding software.
